In any legal matter involving land, it is important to know exactly what parcel of land is involved and, secondarily, what its features are. While a survey map is very helpful, too many lawyers do not understand what a survey entails and how to read a map to get the most from it. This presentation will break down the survey and map into small, understandable units, and then build them into a comprehensible whole. The map will be compared to the legal description found in a deed, title commitment, or similar document, and the techniques for performing an analysis and flagging different sorts of problems will be discussed.
