Program Summary

The intent of the webinar is to discuss and delve into common mistakes and omissions that occur in the estate planning process. This webinar is neither an analysis of legal drafting nor a discussion of suggested language to use in estate documents. Rather, this webinar focuses on “post-signing” mistakes and omissions that often plague estate plans, resulting in the estate plan not being maximized, or worse yet, having results that are counter to the goals of the client, leaving heirs potentially disappointed and/or angry. Often, these mistakes occur through lack of communication among the parties (attorney, client, financial advisor, insurance agent, etc.), or due to false assumptions as to which parties will handle which steps.

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Beneficiary Form preparation
  • Retitling client assets
  • Funding the Revocable Living Trust
  • Start-up and annual administrative steps for Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts

Date: April 28, 2023
