Program Summary

This program will present an overview of title insurance coverage in real estate transactions, including a description of common exceptions and available endorsements. The program looks at title documents and land surveys with emphasis on disputes and issues that can arise from land surveys, such as encroachments and boundary disputes. Finally, the program explores avenues for resolving land disputes with emphasis on the benefits to and issues concerning partition actions and quiet title actions.

  • Title Examination and Land Surveys: Understanding the process of reviewing title evidence and land surveys to ascertain ownership and boundaries accurately
  • Boundary Disputes and Encroachments: Addressing conflicts between neighbors regarding lot lines and encroachments, and learning strategies to resolve such disputes effectively, possibly through negotiation or legal action
  • Partition Actions: Learning the legal procedures involved in forcing a sale of jointly-owned real estate when co-owners disagree on selling the property
  • Quiet Title Actions: Exploring methods to clear up property disputes through legal actions aimed at establishing clear and unambiguous ownership rights

Jack Luellen is a Special Counsel in the Firm’s Denver office and a member of the Energy & Natural Resources practice group. He concentrates his practice on energy law, with a particular emphasis in oil and gas law, litigation and real estate law. In his energy law practice, Mr. Luellen represents oil and gas companies, representing interests in the E&P and midstream sectors. Mr. Luellen routinely negotiates, drafts and closes agreements for the purchase and sale of oil and gas assets, as well as surface use, processing, marketing, transportation and joint operations agreements. He frequently works with companies and capital providers in connection with debt and equity financings and related corporate governance matters, including corporate structure and formation. Mr. Luellen’s practice also includes all aspects of commercial and business litigation where he has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of matters including insurance coverage, breach of contract, intellectual property, real estate, and employment matters.
