Program Summary

Vicarious trauma in law occurs when legal professionals are deeply impacted by the trauma experiences of their clients, often leading to emotional and psychological stress. Building a path to resilience in the workplace is essential for reducing these impacts, fostering mental well-being, and sustaining retention.

No Lawyer is immune to the effects of their work; burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma are some of the ways in which the traumatic experiences of their clients can impact an attorney's life.

However, these challenges can be alleviated through the cultivation of vicarious resilience using practical, actionable steps, which foster positive mental well being and enhances overall professional satisfaction.

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • What burnout, secondary and vicarious trauma is
  • How it can develop in legal practice
  • Individual and workplace strategies and pointers to develop vicarious resilience
