Jason Karp | Outside GC LLC
Jason Karp is a seasoned legal and business executive with more than 30 years of experience in the telecom, technology, media, XaaS, and public safety industries. Jason has extensive expertise overseeing the legal functions of large business organizations, as well as providing legal counsel, strategic advice and operational support for expediting high-impact business transactions, collaborations, strategic acquisitions and various company-wide initiatives.
Jason works with businesses of all sizes, handling a wide range of complex commercial and corporate transactions, as well as business operations and market strategy, corporate governance, compliance program development and implementation, and regulatory and policy advocacy and strategy.
In addition to his role with Outside GC, Jason is also a co-founder and Board Member of the Public Safety Network (PSN), a provider of business and operational expertise to established and start-up companies entering the public safety tech market, and Chief Legal Officer and Chief Human Capital Officer of Affinaquest, a SaaS platform increasing donations, fan engagement and revenue for universities.
Prior to joining Outside GC, Jason served as Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Qumu Corporation, a publicly-traded enterprise technology company, where he led all legal and HR functions, including commercial deal and strategic partnership negotiations, supply chain contracts, regulatory compliance, data privacy issues, board governance and HR-related matters.
Jason’s previous general counsel roles include serving as Interim CEO and General Counsel of Allerio, a start-up company offering a mobile connectivity solution for first responders; Chief Legal Officer of Secured Communications, a global technology company specializing in safeguarding enterprise communications; and General Counsel of FirstNet, the federal agency responsible for the nation’s communication network dedicated to emergency responders and the public safety community created through a first-of-its-kind public- private partnership with AT&T.
Earlier in his career, Jason held several executive roles with Accenture, including Director of Commercial Transactions for the Communications, Media and Technology Operating Group and Director of Legal Services for Global Ethics. Before Accenture, he was Special Counsel with Kelly Drye & Warren, an AmLaw 100 law firm, where he developed an outsourced general counsel practice, focusing on technology and telecommunications commercial transactions, corporate governance, and telecommunications regulatory matters. Jason also served as the first General Counsel, Assistant Secretary, and Vice President of Human Resources for E-centives, Inc. (now part of Catalina Marketing Corporation), and he created and led the legal department at Net2000 Communications, Inc.
Jason received a B.S.E. with honors in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.
Jason is a member of the DC, VA, MD, and NY Bars. He is a lover of all thing’s fitness, regularly rides his ElliptiGO stand-up bike and is fully indoctrinated into the world of Peloton. Jason also is an avid musician / keyboard player and continues to write and perform music whenever he can and is currently getting his certification as a health and life coach through the Health Coach Institute. Jason has three children and one large bernedoodle, and currently resides in the big apple, AKA New York City – the greatest city in the world.
