This CLE will delve into the process of building a compelling nursing home case through depositions with an emphasis on identifying the key themes in nursing home litigation. The discussion will address the fundamental question of why depositions are crucial to your case and examining the necessary steps for preparing for a nursing home deposition. Strategies to be discussed include undermining defenses, obtaining impactful sound bites, identifying key figures and documents, and asking questions for which there are no good answers.

Jonathan F. Lauri is a Shareholder and member of Stark & Stark’s Nursing Home Litigation Group. Mr. Lauri has dedicated his career to seeking justice on behalf of those who have been neglected, abused while residing in a nursing home, assisted living facility, hospital, and the like.

Jonathan is an experienced and skilled litigator who has tried cases to verdict in counties throughout New Jersey. Jonathan has notable appellate successes in advancing the rights of Nursing Home Residents in New Jersey in Estate of James Burns v. Care One Harmony Village, 468 N.J. Super. 306 (App. Div. 2021) and defeating arbitration clauses Estate of Maureen Bright v. Aristacare at Cherry Hill, 2020 N.J. Super. Unpub. LEXIS 402 (App. Div. Feb. 26, 2020)

Jonathan was raised and has lived in New Jersey all his life. He currently serves as secretary for the Greater Lambertville Chamber of Commerce, which focuses on promoting business in Lambertville and the surrounding areas. He also is a volunteer member of the Regional District Ethics Committee VII for Mercer County, which is a committee that serves to preserve the confidence of the public in the integrity and trustworthiness of lawyers in general. Jonathan’s proudest accomplishment is being a husband and father.
