Program Summary

The document work is already in Word — now the assistant is too

Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant, and it works directly inside Microsoft Word. This webinar shows lawyers how to put it to use through live demonstrations on different legal document examples — summarizing, drafting, editing, and formatting. The session opens with a Copilot overview and builds toward the document tasks that consume a lawyer’s day.

The gains are concrete. Ask Copilot to summarize or draft a Word document. Apply character and paragraph formats without hunting through menus. Put it to work on styles and tables. Have it insert page numbering and footers, then assist with a Table of Contents and a Table of Authorities. In Copilot Chat, answer questions, analyze documents, work with PDFs, and extract data.

None of it lands without the right instructions, so the program develops effective prompting skills — tips and best practices for getting usable output the first time. Attendees leave knowing what Copilot can do inside Word, and how to ask for it.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Copilot Foundations
An introduction and overview of Copilot, plus effective prompting skills — tips and best practices for getting usable output.
  • Summarize and Draft
Using Copilot to summarize and draft Word documents.
  • Formatting Legal Documents
Applying character and paragraph formats, and using Copilot to work with styles and tables.
  • Rewrite and Edit
Rewriting and editing text directly within the document.
  • Document Architecture
How Copilot inserts page numbering and footers, and how it can assist with a Table of Contents and a Table of Authorities.
  • Copilot Chat
Using Copilot Chat to answer questions, analyze documents, work with PDFs, and extract data.
