Program Summary

The CLE presentation will provide an overview of the current status of collegiate name, image, and likeness (NIL) rules, regulations, and laws. We will delve into the current landscape of antitrust cases against the NCAA relating to NIL and an overview impacted rules and regulations. We will also discuss state laws surrounding NIL and current trends. I will offer perspectives on the future trajectory of NIL and collegiate sports, exploring potential developments and implications for student-athletes, universities, and collegiates sports as a whole.

Jonathan Wohlwend is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice is primarily focused on trademarks, copyrights, and patents. He has extensive experience advising clients on the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights, including trademark clearance and registration, copyright registration, and patent prosecution. Additionally, Jonathan has experience in collegiate name, image, and likeness (NIL) issues. He stays up to date on monitoring legislative activity and NCAA rules regarding NIL, and advises on navigating these complex and changing issues.

Prior to joining Bradley, Jonathan served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force. In that role, he served as a federal prosecutor, as well as an advisor to military leadership. He frequently advised leadership on a broad range of legal issues, including trial practice, government investigations, government contracts, and federal regulatory compliance.
