Attendees will learn the key legal requirements for initiating a medical malpractice claim, including statutory prerequisites and procedural obligations. The session also explores affirmative defenses that may prevent a client from pursuing a lawsuit, helping practitioners assess case viability early on. From a practical standpoint, participants will be guided through evaluating whether a case makes sense to pursue, considering both legal merit and financial feasibility. Finally, the session delves into the intricacies of medical record review, offering strategies for identifying crucial facts, recognizing red flags, and building a strong foundation for successful litigation.

Speakers

Ivan Tryskyba | Lexidesk.ai

Ivan Tryskyba is the founder of Lexidesk.ai, an AI-driven legal intake platform that acts as a 24/7 “lawyer-level” receptionist, qualifying leads, booking appointments, and following up automatically.

Prior to Lexidesk, Ivan was instrumental in launching Caseguru, a legal tech marketplace co-founded in 2023 that connects attorneys with legal cases using AI to improve client acquisition. Under his leadership, Lexidesk has been recognized by the LawTechUK ecosystem as a promising company using AI to manage client enquiries with the intelligence of a senior attorney, ensuring firms never miss a prospective client.

Ivan also serves as CEO of Insight-Dev-Tech and maintains a presence in the legal tech and AI communities, often speaking on the intersection of technology and law.

Martin Langan | Lexidesk.ai

Martin Langan is a solicitor and legal tech innovator with deep experience in private practice and workflow automation. He founded Legal Workflow Limited in 2007, leveraging his early adoption of case management systems (dating back to 1997) to help law firms design custom workflows, improve efficiency, and integrate legal software solutions.

Over his career, Martin has advised firms on IT strategy, business process improvement, and selecting technology platforms for legal operations. He speaks and writes frequently on topics including automation, AI in law, and the evolution of online legal services.

In his role with Lexidesk.ai, Martin brings this technical and strategic perspective to help ensure the platform not only works as a smart intake tool, but aligns with legal practice workflows, compliance, and firm culture.

Jennifer Pitzer | Roman & Boock, LLC

Jennifer Pitzer found inspiration at an early age. Her father was an attorney, so legal discussions stretched from the living room to the dining room table. As she grew older, she realized that the law offered a way to put her skills in research, writing, critical analysis and public speaking to good use.

At the start of her career, Jennifer went across the Mississippi River to serve clients at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. This experience opened her eyes to the problems and injustices people are trying to solve through the legal system — drawing her to represent individuals injured at no fault of their own.

At Roman & Boock, Jennifer is known for her resilient representation. She focuses on the finer details of each case and identifies the best path forward for her clients. Jennifer stands by the belief that hard work will overcome the challenges of each case and secure exceptional results.
