Program Summary

This presentation will provide a practical framework of the privacy and security challenges facing hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality businesses in today’s data-driven environment. The panelists will explore what types of personal information the industry can collect and how that data may be used, the regulatory landscape governing privacy and security, and what constitutes “reasonable” data protection measures. Attendees will also learn best practices for building robust security protocols and how to respond effectively when incidents occur because in the world of data, it’s not a matter of if, but when.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Personal information: What can you collect, and what can you do with it?
  • Regulation: Who regulates data privacy and security, and why does it matter?
  • Data protection and security: What is reasonable security, and how do you achieve it?
  • Incident response: What happens when things go wrong, and they will
