Program Summary

Drawing on neuroscience, stress physiology, and the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the session demonstrates how posture, movement, sleep, nutrition, and hydration affect a lawyer’s cognitive functioning, decision-making, professionalism, and ability to meet ethical duties.

The session includes practical strategies from a posture and movement expert, alongside an ethics- oriented analysis that links well-being to competence, diligence, communication, and impairment-related duties.

Presented by The Federal Bar Association Professional Development Committee.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • The relationship between physical well-being and ethical legal practice
  • Ethical duties affected by physical well-being
  • The impact of chronic stress and sedentary work on the nervous system, immune function, emotional regulation, and ethical reliability
  • Practical movement and posture techniques
  • Strategies for creating a sustainable legal practice

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.
