Program Summary

Young lawyers experience various pressures as they begin to practice law. When met with sufficient resilience and a repertoire of life skills to skillfully respond to the challenges that come their way, their experience can be affirming and a source of great personal and professional fulfillment. Disconcerting levels of mental health struggles, career dissatisfaction, and feelings of stress point to the importance of addressing these concerns with insights and tools to help attenuate their deleterious effects. This program introduces participants to a set of tools to help bolster their ability to meet the challenges they are experiencing at this time in their lives and are likely to encounter across the arc of their careers. The panel will introduce mindfulness insights and practices that can be helpful for emotional regulation, training attention, and perceiving people and events with greater clarity. Through the sharing of personal stories, participants will be reminded of the importance of self-care and that they are not alone in their quest to do well while encountering the many challenges that run through the legal profession.
