Program Summary

Location data plays a pivotal role in today’s digital landscape, shaping everything from user experience to legal proceedings. With the growing reliance on location data across sectors, understanding its legal and regulatory implications is essential for compliance and risk management.

This webinar delves into the fundamentals of location data, covering collection and storage methods, lawful processing under GDPR, and the importance of de identification, data aggregation, and pseudonymization for privacy compliance. Key consent and notice requirements will be examined, including protocols for data sales, targeted advertising, and opt-in policies for precise data collection.

The session further explores the use of location data in civil litigation—such as personal injury, intellectual property, and employment cases—alongside jurisdictional issues, cross-border concerns, and discovery challenges. Finally, best practices for data retention, secure disposal, and post-litigation data management will be discussed to mitigate risks of liability and ensure responsible handling of location data.

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.
