Program Summary

Session I – Key Concepts in Family Law – Julia Wyda

This session will address key concepts in handling dissolution of marriage actions in Florida. A framework will be provided for organizing these cases and relevant statutes that pertain to each subject within the framework will be discussed. There will be an emphasis on practice and procedure.

Session II – Child Custody, Support, and Parenting Plans – Richard J. Boyle

This presentation will provide Florida’s legal framework for child custody, including the distinctions between legal and physical custody and the key factors that influence judicial decisions. This session will also cover Florida’s child support guidelines, calculation methods, and the process for modifying and enforcing support orders. Attorneys will gain practical strategies for structuring effective parenting plans that promote compliance, stability, and the child’s best interests. This session is essential for family law practitioners seeking to navigate custody and support matters with confidence and precision.

Session III – Asset Division, Alimony, and Domestic Violence Considerations – Kim Nutter

During this session, we will focus on changes in the laws affecting equitable distribution, updates on what is a marital asset, what alimony in Florida now looks like, and what affects alimony such as supportive relationships, retirement, and adultery. The session will include discussing statutory factors and expediting relocation cases and what to do and the impact of domestic violence allegations in your clients cases involving children.

As a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in Marital and Family Law, Julia Wyda concentrates her practice in all areas of marital and family law, including dissolution of marriage, paternity, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Ms. Wyda is a partner with the law firm of Brinkley Morgan, with offices in Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton.

She is an active member of the legal community. She served as President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association from 2021-2022. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, serving as Chair of the Marital and Family Law Board Certification Review Course Committee from 2024-2025 and previously serving on the Executive Council and as Chair of the Publications Committee from 2015-2017, Co-Chair of the CLE Committee from 2011-2013, and Co-Chair of the 2023 Trial Advocacy Workshop.

Ms. Wyda is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has received numerous recognitions and awards, including the Distinguished Leader Award from the Daily Business Review in 2022, the South Florida Business & Wealth (SFBW) 2022 Leadership in Law  Award, the Executive Council Service Award from the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar in 2017, and the Above and Beyond Award from the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar in 2014. She has also been repeatedly selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers, Legal Elite, Best Lawyers, and Law Dragon’s 500 Leading Family Lawyers in the nation.

She has spoken throughout the state on law related topics and continues to write and speak on topics related to marital and family law.

 

Speaker_Richard J. Boyle_FedBarRichard J. Boyle | The Boyle Law Firm

Prior to his career as an attorney, he served as a school resource officer with the Gwinnett County Public Schools from 2015 to 2020. Further, he was a litigation associate with the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta in 2019.

From 2007 to 2015, Mr. Boyle held multiple positions with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, serving as a senior police officer from 2007 to 2009, a plainclothes detective from 2009 to 2012, and a homicide detective from 2009 to 2012. Before his time as a law  enforcement officer and attorney, he worked as a tool rental department supervisor and a special services department supervisor with The Home Depot. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Boyle was the owner and operator of a small home improvement business called E-Z Does It Home Improvements Inc. in Staten Island, New York.

Mr. Boyle prepared for his legal career by earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgia State University in 2018. He further holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialty in human resources from St. John’s University, where he graduated in 2006. Richie is admitted to practice in the state of Florida since 2020,\Georgia since 2019, Washington D.C. since 2023, and Mr. Boyle has further been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the Georgia Middle Bankruptcy Court.

With a diverse set of professional experience, Mr. Boyle previously served as a teacher of elementary reading, mathematics, and advanced calculus, in addition to sharing his knowledge as an assistant professor of trial advocacy immediately following his graduation from the same institution. For his accomplishments, “Richie” received two Officer of the Year awards from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department in 2009 and 2012, a Trial Advocacy Award from Georgia State University, and a full academic scholarship from St. John’s University.

Richie has maintained affiliation with a number of professional organizations throughout his career, including serving as the co-chair of the family law section of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association. Richie is also the co-chair of the membership committee of the Susan Greenberg Inns of Court, a proud member of the Wellington Rotary Club, and holds a seat on the advisory board of the Boys and Girls Club. He was further a member of the Florida Police Benevolent Association and the Wellington National Country Club. In his free time, Richie enjoys spending time with his daughter and playing golf.

Richie was born in Colombia, raised in New York City, policed in Athens, GA, and now lives in Wellington, FL. Richie is proud of his  diverse ethnic background and experience.

He has worn many hats throughout his life.

Richie likes to say that he has cut grass, cooked fried chicken, sold shoes, repaired homes, helped build new structures, managed retail, installed and managed security systems, patrolled the streets as a uniformed officer, an undercover officer, a homicide detective, and a school officer.

Ms. Nutter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial LawyersTM and a Florida Bar board certified specialist in Marital and Family Law, concentrating her practice in the areas of family law, guardianships, and probate and estate litigation. She is also recognized by the Florida Supreme Court as a certified Family Mediator, certified Appellate Mediator, and certified Guardian Ad Litem.

For more than 20 years, Ms. Nutter has served as a Guardian Ad Litem in family law for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit for Broward County and in the Family Law, Criminal and Dependency Courts for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit for Palm Beach County, advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children. She also previously served as Chair of the Attorney Ad Litem & Guardian Ad Litem Ad Hoc Committee for the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar and helped create a new program designed to train people seeking to be appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem in family law court proceedings. She now owns and operates that program, called Speaking for Kids, Inc.

Additionally, Ms. Nutter is a founding member of the Collaborative Family Lawyers of South Florida, Inc., a charter member and officer of the South Palm Beach County Collaborative Law Group, a Master Member of the Susan Greenberg Family Law American Inn of Court of the Palm Beaches, and also serves as President of the Florida Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (FLAFCC).

Based on nominations by her peers and clients, Ms. Nutter is often recognized in various publications for her work in the legal field. She has been listed among U.S. News & World Report‘s Best Lawyers in America© since 2011, has been named a “Florida Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers magazine since 2008, and maintains an AV Preeminent® rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She has also been listed among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Family Lawyers for 2020. She and her practice team have also helped Brinkley Morgan achieve recognition as a Tier 1 “Best Law Firm” in the area of Family Law for 2014-2023 by U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, Ms. Nutter leads two annual, complimentary family law seminars for mental health professionals and accounting professionals in the South Florida community. Hosted by Brinkley Morgan, the seminars provide continuing education credits and cover topics that affect clients during family disputes such as divorce, paternity, dependency, and more.

Stacey is a collaboratively trained attorney with extensive experience in the area of merit all and family law. She is certified for practice by the Florida Supreme Court as well as a family law mediator. Her approach is to focus on resolution of disputes and avoiding litigation and court time if possible. Extraordinary dedication, intense case preparation, outstanding courtroom performance, and admirable integrity distinguish Stacey’s work as an attorney. Stacey emphasizes a team approach within her practice and serves her client’s needs 24/7.

Prior to joining GrayRobinson in 2020, Stacey was a partner at premier Boca Raton law firm Schuttler Greenberg and Mullins LLC where she helped clients with cases involving divorce, alimony, child custody, timesharing, child support, mediation, same sex relationships, relocation, and more. Stacey founded the EBC Foundation, Inc ., a nonprofit organization that raises awareness for the importance of early detection of breast cancer primarily through athletically inspired events. Stacey resides in Boca Raton with her husband and her three children. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf with her husband, running marathons and triathlons and spending time with her children.
