Program Summary

On August 1, 2023, “qualified” employers were authorized by the Department of Homeland Security to use an optional alternative procedure (also referred to as “virtual verification”) to in-person physical examination of the documentation presented by employees for the purpose of completing the Form I-9. This new procedure may be a game-changer in the world of immigration compliance. Also, effective August 1, the USCIS issued a new one page I-9 form, which made various significant changes to the form.

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Who is a qualified employer that is authorized to use the optional alternative procedure “Virtual verification”
  • What steps must be followed to use virtual verification
  • Changes in the I-9 form
