Program Summary

As workplace protections expand for the LGBTQ+ community, employers should be aware of their legal obligations and the rights of transgender and non-binary employees. This presentation will cover the development of transgender employees’ rights with the issuance of SCOTUS’s Bostock opinion and its progeny, and the status of certain splits in authority regarding just how far the reach of Bostock extends. It will also discuss best practices for how to effectively navigate issues that may arise when hiring a transgender worker or when an employee is transitioning in the workplace.

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • The U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark 2020 decision in Bostock v. Clayton County and subsequent agency guidance and lower court opinions
  • State laws addressing transgender individuals’ rights
  • Steps to implement to create an inclusive workplace that can help employers stay compliant, increase morale, and lead to a more positive and productive work environment
