With the inclusion of SSR 24-3p, representatives have been given an additional burden to check the power of vocational experts. While this may seem like more work, in reality this creates a higher ceiling for success if the work is put into the process. In this specific instance, there are vocational experts within the Social Security Administration that utilize only SOC codes for providing significant numbers in the national economy and disguise this practice by hiding behind representative DOT occupations from the ONET crosswalk. Not only is this process duplicitous, it violates administration policy when looked through a closer lens. With this presentation, representatives will be able to identify vocational experts who are inflating their numbers through the use of SOC codes instead of relying upon data for each individual DOT occupation and eliminate problematic vocational experts that contribute to wrongful denials of benefits.
