What did the midterms change — and what can your clients do about it?
In light of the 2026 midterm elections, this program examines the federal political landscape and its implications for legislation and policymaking. It opens with an election report and analysis from former U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, who represented North Dakota in Congress for 30 years — facilitated by moderator Maura Black.
From there, the panel turns practical. Dan Renberg and Cissy Jackson of ArentFox Schiff take a Lobbying 101 Q&A — lobbying as an additional tool for achieving client objectives. Professional responsibility counsel Mary Grace Guzman then works through the laws governing lobbying activities, key compliance obligations, and the ethical considerations attorneys and other professionals must navigate.
Attendees walk away with a read on the post-election policy map, a working sense of when lobbying belongs in an advocacy strategy, and the legal and ethical guardrails that keep it compliant — delivered in a Q&A-driven hour with practitioners who have worked both sides of the process.
