Program Summary

Both inside and outside counsel are often “in the boardroom” providing valuable support to boards and management. In addition, serving on boards of directors can be a valuable part of one’s legal career. Law firms are increasingly permitting their members to serve on boards. There are important ethical principles to observe and navigate while in the board room and if one is a lawyer serving on a board which are not difficult to manage. This program will cover the role of “counsel in the boardroom” as well as what board service entails, how to pursue board roles, and how to navigate the ethical issues when serving on boards, including the important ethical considerations.
